Which Homepage?
Aug 29, 2011 4:48AM PDT

Is this Mozilla's own homepage? I thought that Firefox didn't come with a Homepage already installed and you have to select your own.

So which one are you using?

If it is some corporate homepage, eg your ISP or similar, then normally the web site designer/provider decides which search engine to include.

Not much you can do about that unless they allow the homepage to be configurable.

"Mozilla Firefox Start Page"

This is the homepage that opens up after you download Firefox, entitled as I put in quotes, above. On older versions of Firefox, I believe the default search engine was google. Now it's ask.com which, IMHO, sucks. Would like to replace it--the search engine--with google. I can always go to the google website and search from there so this is not the end of the world. But it is annoying and if I can get replace "ask" with "google" I'd be a happy guy.

Re: search

I had Google in the search box (top right, next to the address) in Firefox 3. After upgrading to 4 and 5 and 6 now, it's still google. So the question might be: what did you do to make it ask?

Great!

Thanks for the help. One last thing: Can I do something similar with the main search box, the one centered on the page below the Firefox icon (fox surrounding/clinging to the globe)? It still searches in ask.com.

Did you try it?

I am still not sure which homepage this is as I always change my homepage to one I prefer.

But like I say, any homepage created by some other web site is normally hard wired into the HTML of that web page and cannot be changed unless the web page itself offers that.

Not sure what I did or when I did it but MarkFlax helped me out and I now have Google in the top right search box. Thanks for your comment.
