Modern Warfare 2 lag and weird Audio

by goibon / November 26, 2009 10:43 PM PST

So I just got my 27" iMac with a 2.8ghz i7 thinking I'm gonna be running games smoothly. I installed windows xp 32 bit and quickly downloaded steam and modern warfare 2.
But when I connect to a server the audio gets all scratchy / distorted / robotic. My game also starts lagging, so when I'm running it skips ahead. I'm using a Creative Fatal1ty USB Headset.

Boot Camp or Virtual Machine?

Boot Camp would be the better option.

How is the sound before connecting to the server

Modern Warfare 2 is available for download???

Sorry, I forgot to mention that Silly I'm using Boot Camp.

The sound is fine before connecting to a server.

And yes Modern Warfare 2 is available for download, and it has been since a week before release Happy

From steam of course. Haven't you read / heard anything about the new IWnet? The whole thing runs through steamworks now, even if you purchase a pc version from a retailer you have to register it with steam.

Seems some don't like the new arrangements.

On the subject of your sound, is it always like that when you join the server or only from a particular server?

Might be worth mentioning to the folks that run them, of course they will blame your machine, but it may be worth a try.

Know anyone else running it on a Mac and Boot Camp?

No dedicated servers

In reply to: Interesting,

What arrangements are we talking about?

And it's like this on all servers.

I can't mention it to the folks than run them because Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 doesn't have dedicated servers, instead people are hosting locally, ( I think).

No, all my friends are on pc's Sad
