Thanks for any help

Gravyz,

There might be a modem setting (see the modem or connection properties) to automatically disconnect after ... minutes of inactivity. Maybe it helps if you disable that? But if it happens during browsing it's not right.

There might be a combination of settings in Outlook Express. Automatically check every 20 minutes and disconnect after send/receive. This is expected to work only if you have Outlook Express open while surfing.

The disconnect might be caused by a bad line condition, but if it's each time after 20 minutes, it's not likely.

Have a look in the modem log, and see if it reports anything interesting about the problem.

And how do you do the dial-up? Automatically from IE, or manualle from Dialup connections or a shortcut to that icon on the desktop. Try the last and set IE to 'never dial'.

I don't really expect all of this to help, but it just some thoughts.

Kees

Line noise can do this, any new phones or phone related problems or devices lately?; hooked up into an apartment complex etc....? If'n so Phone lines/Service has to be repaired. Verizon DSL has a $29.00 a month deal going if'n your modem has line problems. For what its worth. Good Luck!!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
