modem on hold

my friend and i have just reformatted her computer with xp pro. when she tries to connect to internet she gets a message telling her "modem on hold. isp does not support modem on hold" Has anybody had this, does any body know how it got there or how to get rid of it. any suggestions would be great. thanks.....sally

THANKS FOR THAT, MODEM IS ESS ES56H-PI DATA FAX VOICE MODEM. IT IS ATTACHED TO COM3. ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO ACCESS THIS CONTROL PANEL WOULD BE GREAT, WE ARE PRETTY NEW TO ALL THIS. THANKS HEAPS.....SALLY

That's the make and model of the CHIPSET.

http://www.modemsite.com/56k/ms.asp notes how to disable V.92 in the init string, but you didn't tell the make and model of the model. If you don't know, ask who you bought it from.
