modem on hold

by ima / April 1, 2004 10:52 AM PST

I run Win XP. I just bought a new modem that has modem on hold capability. It has no instructions on how to use it, however. I understand that you can make a 5 min. phone call while online, but it doesn't work. I installed everything from the CD just as they asked. And my call waiting is not disabled. Is there something I am not doing?

Please advise.
Thank you,
C

From http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6138-0.html?forumID=31&threadID=12544&start=0

Did you work with the ISP and Phone company?

"As noted in a recent dialog at http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7584-0.html?forumID=63&threadID=12420&start=0 this modem would not only need drivers, the ISP and phone company have to cooperate to supply such a feature."
(me)

"i am using modem on hold..i like it... you have to be using a V92 connection with your isp also must have call waiting with your phone company.... if you have a V92 modem then somewhere you probably have a modem on hold program on disk...maybe your restore disk...when the program is installed and working you will see a yellow telephone symbol at the bottom of your monitor near your clock....you gotta have all those things before it will work...."

As you can see, this stuff is not a plug it in and it works.

Visit the modem web site and download the users manual? Or ask them?
