I have ordered a Mesh computer with Vista Ultimate installed. Does anyone know if my existing Thomson SpeedTouch 330 modem will work with Vista?
I would appreciate any advice. Mary T

Vague reply from ISP
Feb 10, 2007 5:23PM PST

I emailed Orange, my ISP and was told that the SpeedTouch 330 modem "should" work. I quote part of their reply - "Orange do not fully support vista at the moment but will in the near
future. If you do have any connection issue orange will help you the
best they can."
Is Orange the only ISP not to be Vista ready, or are there others?

Mesh compuyer....

...it is up to the place where you purchase the computer to make it work, or advise you what to do. Part with your money only when it is satisfactorily working. If the reason for not working is because your ISP does not support Vista.....yet, and is not willing to help, then wait, or change ISP.

Speedtouch 330 modem
Feb 12, 2007 5:03PM PST

I have a Dell inspiron 1605 laptop. Tried to use my Speedtouch 330 modem with Vista, it didn't work. My solution was to download the 64 bit driver for Windows, install and configure for the UK.
From IE, added broadband connection PPPoE and this worked.

Various companies not got their acts together
Feb 12, 2007 11:56PM PST

Thanks for the advice. I find it disappointing that various companies have not got their acts together to be ready for Vista. They have had plenty of time to do so and they have been happy to take our money over the years.
