May 30, 2007 12:32AM PDT

Hi
Can use a computer fine but not brill on the technical side of things. I have a broadband internet modem which has always been connected by usb. I have bought a router so my son can have access to internet on his lap top so have do I change my usb connection to ethernet. My modem has usb abd ethernet connections at back. Have tried the router but when you have to power the modem up with ethernet I am not getting a connection.

Is this cable or dsl?

If it is DSL (that's what I got), I just install the software from my ISP and it will do everything for me. As for cable, I don't know (it has been a few years).

Hi
Thanks for email. Sorted now. After several hours I ended up contacting Virgin. My modem has a faulty ethernet socket so they are coming tomorrow to replace my modem.
