When I can't identify the modem to find the right driver I buy a new modem. Call it the price you pay for not knowing what hardware you have or keeping the driver disk.

They run 10 bucks around here for the usuals, so it's not a big fine.

Find the Dell driver CD that came with the Optiplex, it is the one with the Blue label. You may find one that is specifically for the modem, but if not you can find the one that has all drivers, you can then select the option to show all the drivers for your computer on the CD and it will show you which ones to re-install. If that doesn't do it, you can go to support.dell.com, click on Small Business, click on Services and Warranties on the right and then put in your service tag. Click on the tab that says Original configuration and it will tell you what you had in the system when you got it.
