Model HLR5656WX/XAA DLP tv

I have a 4" shadow on the left side of the screen . The TV is 4 years old . What is the problem ?

Does it look like a piece of paper curled, or is it a consistent width down the screen?

There is a slight curve to the shadow , its probably a 1/2 inch thinner at the top .
Another bit of input is that it started much thinner and has increased in width very slowley over the last couple months .

Call the service center and mention that it's likely that you have a light tunnel collapse. If you're not able to get a service set up, ask to be escalated. Keep me posted, and if you're able to get a transaction number and no action, post back and let me know. I can't promise results, but I'll help if I can.
