I see the same difference on these tv's as well. As far as the insides of the tv's they are identical, same light engine and all. Here is the difference, The Diamond has a 2-way high transmissive anti-glare screen that blocks out approx 98% ambient light. (725- 96% one way transmissive screen) This is also a "color-tuned" shield. (similar to the Diamond CRT shields of the past but designed specifically for the DLP). This, I believe gives better color accuracy as well as making the actual image brighter to a degree. Also, besides the PVR you also get the much anticipated TV-guide onscreen by gemstar. This makes it a whole lot easier when recording and gives you the "cable box" look when you pull up the guide. Depending on your build date of your tv, the 825 might not have this, but there is a firmware upgrade available the first week or so of Feb. that will give you the TV-guide and not the channel-view you have on all the other Mit's.
Now, I know its deceiving comparing screens at a showroom. Its maze of different settings and specs and my own viewing space is not that dark.
This said I compared a 62" Medallion (7 series) to a Diamond (8 series). Without having the option to go into the menu system I could swear the colors were more accurate on the Diamond series. Is this possible? I thought the differences between the two amounted to an inside double coating on the glass and a Hard Drive recorder for the Diamond series.
I'm hoping that "irishrulze" weighs in on this, but any and all other opinions are welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
