On Thursday Jan. 14, 2010 Mits will be delivering a new LCD-52" LT52151 to my home. The war raged on around here for weeks. The repairman was here 3 times. Each visit revealed more and more problems. First visit revealed the audio board was blown. The repairman said a new board would have to be ordered from Mits. A week later (2nd visit) he was back with it in a sealed carton from Mits. He tore the TV apart, installed the new part, turned it on, same sound issues, only this time he discovered that the speakers were both blown and needed to be replaced. In the meantime the TV picture went haywire. The picture was Fluorescent green, purples and grays. The pepole on TV all looked looked like Barack Obamas publicized picture while running for President, all shaded, shadowy, blotchy and smeary. The repairmans third visit (3 hours) proved to be the last straw. He completely dismantled the TV. Front and back of the TV were removed. There were parts and screws all over my living room. He placed 3 calls to Mits Technical assistance for advise. With each call he said, "I did that, I tried that, twice". This was after he;
Replaced the Audio Board.
Replaced the Speakers.
Got sound but no picture.
Power board probably blown.
Light engine problems.
And finally the lamp blew too.
As he was finishing his last call to Mits Tecnical Assistance I asked to speak to them. I told them I wanted this "State of the Art" piece of junk out of my home and out of my life. I want my money back! They said they would have some one call to negotiate. I got a call telling me to have the repairman remove the TV when he left. they said, NO, I could not have my money back! They would replace the WD-60737. I said "NO", I don't EVER want a DLP TV in my home. I then said the only replacement I would consider is a LCD unit. I agreed to pay $740.00 addition to the $1599.00 I paid originally for the LCD unit.
So now I await the new TV. I will be watching it like a hawk for signs of trouble. I am so grateful to be out from under watching and waiting for the blinking lights and a lamp blowouts. Through out all of this we have been watching an old 32" Panasonic portable. In 40+ years of Panasonic ownership I never once had a TV repairman cross my threshold, ONCE. I should have learned my lesson and stuck with Panasonic, but the QVC presentation made the Mits DLP sound like it was the ultimate TV for the future.
QVC has lost a L-O-N-G time customer thanks to this total TV debacle. They refused to stand behind their product and ME in all of this.
If you are looking for a TV and you hear Mitsubishi DLP----RUN, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN unless you love stress and aggravation. As for me, MITSUBISHI is he dirtiest word I have ever heard in my life.....
