Mitsubishi CRTs which one to get? WS-55313 thru WS-815

Feb 1, 2005 5:28AM PST

2004 55":
WS-55313 Silver
WS-55413 Silver Plus
WS-55513 Gold
WS-55613 Gold Plus
WS-55813 Diamond

2005 55"
WS-55515
WS-55615
WS-55815

I can find "good" deals on the 2004 models now, but is it worth the $$$ to go w/ the 2005 models?? And what do you think of the picture quality differences.

And just to make it more interesting, if I am going to spend the $$$ to go w/ the WS-55815 should I go w/ a LCD or DLP instead? (Mitsubishi WD-52525 vs. Hitachi 50VX500 50")

I just bought this TV a couple weeks ago @ Fry's Electronics, bought it for 1499. Great Deal. The TV was better than expected. It really needed to be tuned by a professional for the picture to really come in well (this is probably because I brought it home myselfin a truck on its back). Spent 250 for the guy to come out. Has a cable card(coll gizmo no need for a cable box) and NetCommand is awesome(controls all your devices from the TV remote. Only drawback I have found so far is that the TV does not display 720p. It will do 480p and 1080i, but no 720. The picture is great on XBOX MX vs. ATV in 1080i. Coudlnt ask for a better deal and knowing its a Mitsu it should last a while.

As for DLP and Plasma and all the new stuff. Granted the picture is a little easier to see from a wider angle, and they are considerably smaller. But you have to jusdge for yourself. Go check out a place who has them all on display.

I also just bought a 2005 model from Fry's. Now is definitely the time to look for 2005 leftovers as Mitsubishi is moving away from the CRT Projection market. I bought a WS-55815 Diamond series for just over a grand (nww in box) and it was supposedly the last new one in the Bay Area CA. I'm seeing 5 year old ones going for $1500+ on local classified ads, so I feel great about this purchase. The diamond series cabinet is eye candy, too! Happy

Look for the one with the most hookup and native resolutions.
