Question

Missing Windows media player 12 in Windows 10

Mar 24, 2016 2:51AM PDT

Am trying to re-install iCloud on a 32 bit machine and keep getting the error message that I am missing media features and to download them. I have downloaded the Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 10 and installed, but no luck.

Have tried the "Turn windows features on and off" trick to see if WMP was unticked and do not have any Media Features options at all.

Computer seems to have wmp in C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player, but cannot run it as it is saying that it is not properly installed and needs to be reinstalled. Clicking on the link takes me here:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/download-windows-media-player

Where you cant download it......

Any clues?

Remember I take it this is a stock install.

I'm starting to run into issues like this but Windows has been hit with registry or other cleaners. Sometimes I find some antivirus or other "protection" so I have to head to stock, clean setups and try again. Sometimes the damage from those cleaners or an infection is so deep I just start over.

Yes it was a straight upgrade from a windows 7 clean install. Pro N, so needed the media pack.

Then one of those stumpers.

I've found the N version to be a pain. As such the company I work for has it on its no support list. That's created some tension at times but it's not something we see often enough to dig into. That is, there's no profit in that version so we just don't deal with it.

Try the regular versions.
