Missing Watch List option...

by John.Wilkinson / September 24, 2007 9:03 AM PDT

When you guys overhauled the Add to Watch List option was removed, forcing users to choose the download option and then cancel it if they already have the software and were just looking for e-mail notifications. About a month ago a couple people brought it up with lee but so far it hasn't made its reappearance. Could that be expected back in the near future?

Yes, Watch List option is coming back
by peterbutler staff / September 24, 2007 10:23 AM PDT

John, the short answer is yes, that feature will be coming back very soon. I'll try to get Greg (our product manager) to offer more specific details here about its return.

We're on it.

The short answer is that the code that runs the Watchlist turned out to be incompatible with some new code we introduced to the site when we redesigned our product detail page. The long answer is incredibly boring unless you're a developer or you like sentences with lots of words that don't make any sense in them.

Our crackerjack JavaScript developer Andy is literally hunched over his Mac working on this very problem as I type this. I'm hoping we can get this fix out next week.

Anyway, my apologies for the inconvenience. I know the Watchlist is a popular and useful feature on the site. And thanks for the note!
