Missing 'safely remove hardware' icon

Jan 2, 2014 11:57AM PST

Hi.

Yes, I have googled this issue. They all seem to say the same things; Use the command line, check hidden icons, select 'show all icons'.

I have no icon. It isn't in the 'customize' dialog, or the 'system icons' dialog.

The command line does work.

Surely somebody on this (or a nearby) planet knows what causes this. If it is you, please share!

I had this drive that had no drive letter and the safely remove icon was absent until I got the drive partitioned and formatted.

The only reason I add this to your google results is that it's not in the top 100 reasons.
