What happened to my pictures? i uploaded them once a long time ago and now only some are still accessable. I downloaded them from my Cannon to my dell inspirion 9300/windows xp. I was able to open them but then a few months ago I went to my pictures and opened the folder and all the images were now this strang logo with the img_0036.JPG (or what ever # was assigned when I downloaded) but when I click on the icon it says no image. What might have happened or where may they have gone?

You say "this strange logo". What strange logo? I can't see it in your post. It must be the logo of the program that opens it. What program is that?

Things to try:
- open in another program (use right click>Open with ... in My Computer) and choose a few (like Internet Explorer)
- copy it to a USB-stick and see how it behaves on another PC.

Tell your experiences.

you DO have a backup of these pictures, don't you? Then the contents won't be lost, even if the files are damaged (which isn't sure yet).
