Question

Missing MVI files

Sep 13, 2011 4:59AM PDT

Recently (and probably rather stupidly) I did some copying and pasting in Mac iPhoto ver 9.1.5 (6.5) of some MVI movie files. Later I wanted to view some of these MVI files but when I clicked on them I got a message saying
" A Necessary Date Reference Could Not Be Resolved".

Try this

find the offending files and SINGLE click on them. Right click (Control + click) the file and choose Get Info.
On the line that says nameoffile.jpg change the jpg to MVI
When prompted, say yes to changing the extension.

I bet the message was "DATA reference"

But the last time (and only time) I saw this was the new user THOUGHT they were copying and pasting files but it turned out the files were still on the other media and all that was copied was a link or shortcut.

I wonder if this stung another new Apple user?
