General discussion

missing folder and files

I was working with some pictures in a sub folder under PICTURES and the entire folder has disappeared. It is not in the recycle bin. I had been adding titles to these pictures and was making copies to CD to share. I copied them, along with another sub folder of picures, several times to CD's that were not compatible with my old Windows 2000 system, but were readable in the DVD player. I had last seen the folder when I formatted the CD as 2.0 UDF to try to solve the compatability problem. I gave that disk to my uncle, who left with it, and then formatted a CD as 1.5 UDF to see if that would do the trick, and my folder was now not there. Just gone. I had used drag & drop to move two folders to these disks, and the first folder is still in the pictures folder, but the second one has just disappeared. I can't understand what could have happened if it is not in the recycle bin - ? Any thoughts? We just spent three hours adding titles labeling who is in these old family pictures!
