Missing file CJSPL50,DLL

Nov 24, 2004 8:18PM PST

Hi,
Tried to install "Legacy Genealogy" free version program on computer "= Widows 98SE = 256 Ram = 40gb Hard drive = Pentium 4 ="

After attempting the installation of the above program, We can proceed just to selecting the "English language" at which an "Error" box comes up showing "Ignore and Close" and found this box is impossible to close or remove.
When you click on the "Details" tab you are informed the error relates to a missing file CJSPL50,DLL
At this point of installing the program we cannot even proceed to open the program!

Searched the internet for this file and cannot locate one as such?

Contacted "Legacy" and they informed me not a Legacy program file. They asked if we are using a Canon Printer and if so to download the latest printer program and install in case may overcome the problem = No did not assist with the above problem

Your comments would be appreciated.

Colin,

I find this a VERY reasonable idea. If fact, all files I have from Canon for my S450 inkjet start with cj, like cjsts.dll (the status monitor) and cjs85.dll (which is part of the status monitor also). But no cjspl55.dll, I'm afraid.

Still, can you explain "Did not assist". Do you have a Canon Printer and did you download and install the latest version of the driver?
And I suggest you Start>Run>Regedit, and search for cjspl55. I really do believe Legacy that it isn't one of their files, so I suspect there's some mention of that file in your registy. If so, post the full key and what's in the immediate neighborhood, it might help to explain the problem.

Hi to Kees Bakker
Thankyou for your reply!
Yes I found the File in question on my son's computer [Windows98SE] with using "Find" = By Double Clicking = My Computer = View = Folder Options = Show All Files" =

I will to await a few months before copying the file to within my daughter's computer, which I feel will correct the glitch [my son lives about 2hours fronm my daughter and I am now returning home = about 7 hours travelling]
Many thanks Colin [Australia]
