Missing Feature in LN46A650

Jan 27, 2009 11:12AM PST

I own a LN46A650 the menu seems to be missing at least one feature. I've read in the manual that I can give channels a name. It is simply not there. I have the latest firmware that is on the website. I've not noticed any other things missing but will update if I find any.

Did I miss something or did it get removed? I would LOVE to be able to label a channel as ABC, CBS, Fox, etc. but even a normal TV channel number would help.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Zujin87,

Page 37 of the owner's manual shows how you can edit the names of the channels. Pressing the channel list button on the remote will toggle these on and off, but to change the names requires going into the menu.

Naming Channels

Alright, I tried the manual again and guess what...it worked, BUT only on analog cable channels. I have around 20 digital channels and they show up as 101-1, 102-3, etc. and I cannot label these. Why can't I label these?

TV: LN46A650 with firmware 2007. The cable runs straight from the wall to the TV.

Digital channels...

Zujin87,

There are some limitations with the digital tuner (ATSC) that include not allowing you to name them, nor programming them in if they weren't picked up on the auto-scan. I'm not quite sure why it's that way, but it is.

I wish I had a better answer on that.
