I think your MODEL:is the DE051...not DM051../
I have a DELL DE051 Dimension 1100-series..
I paid some 300-dollars for it..its the standard Dimension Tower..
how-ever DELL shipped this PC w/the wrong RAM installed..
I rec'v Pentium RAM and a Celron D Processor..when I upgraded to another Module-->>directly from DELL-->>they even shipped the wrong RAM again..the system failed on a Re-Install of the OS..when One Module(blew)a gasket..
DELL Support was crazy to theorize that my HDD(System Drive)was failing..I dumped them at that point..I sent back the Module I purchased for a CREDIT on my DELL Card..went to the KINGSTON Website and investigated the RAM module..
What I found was:
Pentium RAM is PC3200
Celeron D RAM is PC2700
.......................this solved alot of Problems..
The second problem is that PCI-expansion is useless in the DELL DE051..it will RUN a MODEM...that's about it..
..
I even pulled the DELL MODEM...and purchased a USRobotics MODEL#5699B..a much better product..
Keep the DELL MODEM-->>you may need it for a Re-Install of the OS..
..
OK...once I removed all PCI-expansion..I went into the MONITOR Properties....and dropped the HARDWARE ACCELLERATION-->>one notch..
This PC is spectacular in that Configuration..
The Celeron D that I got is a 2.53GHz..the Device Manager says its running at 2.47GHz..
I bought a System Specific RAM Module from KINGSTON(512MB)..
and I needed to make an extra $$100.00 Purchase from DELL to get a XP-Home Edition CD(SP2)..so my DE051 actually cost me 400-dollars..
..
I modified the Optical Drives..
I pulled the DELL DVD Drives and replaced them with my OLD Dimension 2350 CD-Drives..and added a FLOPPY Drive from the 2350 also..
..
The DE051 Drives went into my PC that I built from scratch..
I also run a 30-GB Western Digital..pulling the SEAGATE 80-GB drive shipped in the DE051..that's a External HD now..
..
The DE051 is a very good Internet PC..and that's about it..very good Audio useing WMP-11..
But it will NOT support a Digital Sound Card..
ALSO....
In SYSTEM SET UP---F2/
Check your Hard Drive Acoustics..Choose PERFORMACE....
......................................................
That's about it.....Good Luck.
I own two Dell Dimension DM051's with card readers installed. One of them works completely fine, but on the other the drives wont show up on My Computer or Device Manager. I know they're connecteed internally. Can someone please help?
