Question

Missing display drivers, cant see in order to install them.

Feb 17, 2015 2:23AM PST

So i uninstalled display drivers in an attempt to get my computer to display at the correct resolution. But now, i'm unable to see anything to install the drivers. All I have is a black screen. This happens when im plugged both into my gpu and the io panel of the motherboard. Any ideas?

Given no make, model I have to write

That's a very bad PC. That is, if you can't install the OS (I can't see what OS either!) then it's what we call an incorrect build. Parts that were not checked out in advance to work together.

Time to get with its maker to correct the hardware.

oops, forgot parts info

Sorry about no specs! I build it about a year and a half ago it was fine until this morning when i went to get on. It was booting to 1024x768, when it should be 1080p. The option for 1080p wasnt appearing through control panel or nvidia control panel, so i tried to update drivers and it went to **** somehow.

I don't see a display yet.

That looks like a common enough build but if the display was not able to do 1080 odd things would happen.

-> In the past you would boot safe mode to set the video mode there and then reboot. I can't tell if you know about the usual.

Does your computer have a make & model? An OS?
Feb 17, 2015 2:31AM PST

At the bottom of every screen where you write your question is the following:
"Please read before posting

If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended."
It's hard to guess how to help you when you don't do that. However I'll ask if you've tried Safe Mode.

To boot to Safe Mode, press F8 when 1st booting up.
Feb 17, 2015 3:01AM PST

As soon as you boot up, start pressing F8 about once a second. You should get the option to boot into Safe Mode. That Asrock mobo should've come with the drivers you need. In Safe Mode you can run in 640 x480 display mode without a graphics driver until you can copy the driver and install it.

That's bad. Real bad.

Time to RMA parts that are failing like that. Not one good PC has shown that here. Talk to this machine's maker about testing the rig before delivery.

okay i was running through an HDMI switcher, and i just unplugged it and bam i have a screen. now onto the original problem. My computer isnt displaying at 1080p as it should be. 1920x1080 isnt an option within the control panel for a pick-able resolution. Ive tried updating drivers but nada. any ideas?

That's a detail that

Can't be left out.

OK, moving past the HDMI switch omission, I see this is a Samsumg S24B350.

http://www.samsung.com/sg/support/model/LS24B350HS/XS (you are shorting me on the full model number) finds a driver. This driver adds the needed entries to the "monitor.inf" section so the available resolutions will be shown.

Research how MONITOR.INF works if need be.
