Question

Missing Battery Icon

Mar 19, 2016 7:40AM PDT

For a while now the battery icon on my task bar keeps disappearing every time I start the computer up, and sometimes at random parts of the day as well. I've tried going into Device Manager and disabling and re-enabling. This brings the icon back, but then it disappears again later on. I need a more permanent solution instead of disabling and re-enabling it every time, which is what every other forum keeps telling me to do.
I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon running on Windows 10

somewhere in windows there's a place you can choose if your computer is a desktop or laptop. Even for a desktop it's often better to choose laptop because that weakens the activation check some, they had to give more leeway to laptops on activation checking by windows. I'm pretty sure that was in power settings, maybe they moved it in later windows than XP and Vista.
In the Control Panel, go to Power Options, then you see tab for Power Schemes and you open the arrow and have choices, one is Laptop.

If you see it sometimes and not others already, then you may need a particular driver file for your laptop from the manufacturer site, or your laptop is having a problem with the battery detection and charging system

Answer
There is a setting that you can toggle

on and off what icons appear in the taskbar. So google how to enable the battery icon in Windows 10 taskbar and make sure it's checked as enabled.

Tried that

I forgot to mentioned that I've tried that too. Whenever the icon is missing, that toggle option is grayed out and can't be changed. It's only available when I disable and re-enable the battery to make the icon appear again.

sounds like a windows 10 problem

maybe more than hardware? Have access to another battery for it, see if the same thing happens?

I think that, you cant properly icon set up. Go to task bar there is a upper case icon put your courser on it you can see a message "show hidden icon" click it & go to customize option. you can see a window. There have Show/Hide icon & notification. You can select your option from there. You can solved your problem from there soon.
