Minor question about flash drive

Aug 27, 2009 7:58AM PDT

I recently reformatted a flash drive by mistake and since then I've noticed when I put it into the USB port I automatically get a window showing me the drive's contents. I was just curious why this is now happening? Thanks

XP and Vista have that feature.

I used the XP article

but no matter what I seem to choose the window still appears. On all 4 types of files the radio button that says 'Prompt me each time to choose an action' has been picked. I even tried to choose the option 'Take no action' but the window still appeared.

For XP we can also use TWEAKUI.

The AIN and Autorun settings have a few more choices with TWEAKUI. try that.

Sorry.

I used the short TLA for Auto Insert Notification.

Thanks, TWEAKUI

finally took care of that little hiccup. I don't know if it has anything to do with downloading Tweakui but that message bubble which says it's OK to remove the hardware from the port seems to have changed position. A portion of it now appears to be below and behind the taskbar. No big deal, just something else that seems to have changed.

That popup BEHIND the taskbar is well known.

I have to agree with the guy I read who said the solution makes as much sense as the problem.

Sorry for the typos.

I meant "I no longer fix it" but I think you caught the gist of my reply and found answers in spite of my gaffes.
