Minor issue - Display Shutdown / Screensaver

So many things to learn. Example: I was having a little issue with seeing my mouse pointer. When I went to control panel - mouse, I was happy to see that I could change the color to black. I hadn't noticed if I could do that before, with my previous windows xp. I clicked apply, ok, and I was done. Than I noticed that it kept changing back, I didn't notice that it was happening after I rebooted each time. After looking everywhere to see how to resolve the issue, I found out that you have to do a "save as" thing. Something so simple and you have to do a "save as", give me a break.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, on to my current issue. A minor point, but still it doesn't seem that this should be happening. I have the 'display' set to turn off after 15 minutes, and it does, sorta. That is to say, when it goes to turn off, the display becomes this sorta like picture when you go to take a picture at night and you don't see anything, but its all kinda like its trying to see something. Anyway, I haven't timed it, but it takes several more minutes before the display goes completely dark / black and you then see the monitor like blinking letting you know its in standby mode.

I seem to recall that before I installed this 'desktop' theme from that online link that you see in that control panel area, the monitor would shutdown as it was supposed to. None of this kinda sorta shutdown. Maybe a point, power scheme set to high performance.

The trick was to set the screen saver to none if I wanted the display to power off. So if the screen saver is set to something, it may kick in a split second prior to power down of the display.

And there are issues with self-built and visual anomalies. The PC industry never did get that under control. That is I see ready to use laptops without so many oddities but not perfect. It's not a flaw but a sign of the maker did or did not fix some oddity. Can drive some clients mad. Fix? Change clients so far.

Since I had only downloaded a "desktop" theme, and "not" a screensaver, I didn't look there. The screensaver was set to "blank", so I changed it to "none". I do recall that it was set to "none" before I downloaded the "theme". So it must have changed "that" by default.

Anyway, hopefully it's fixed.

Some people want it that way

Some people want it that way. It splits the difference between preventing image burn-in by blanking the screen, but at the same time the monitor is still on so the response is very quick if you move the mouse.
