What you describe is not a bug or a defective camera.
Page 67 of your Instruction Manual covers this, and how to correct it.
Almost all digital cameras will disable zoom during movie recording because zoom motors make noise (except for the Canon S1-IS). The Z2 lets you make the choice of killing optical zoom during movie recording.
The other noises you hear are from the "Continous AutoFocus motor. This too can be turned off during movie recording.
A view of the movie mode menus can be found on page 45 of the instruction manual. Upper right corner of the page.

I just purchased the Z2 !! its an awesome camera overall ! the only complaint (and a major one) is that when in video mode, the mechanics sound of the camera is very (i mean) very loud. i.e. the noise of the SD card (as its recording) is very loud and could be heard while the movies are played.(sounds like the sound of a loud hard drive writing LOTS of data) I also hear the zoom (the noise as it's zooming in and out) in all my movies during playback!! this is MAJOR bug. any body else with this problem or did i just pick up a deffective camera ?
(I'm using a 512MB Sandisk Card)
Any one with this problem ? please assit.
Thanks
