and you will see higher resolution. The miniDVD people are most likely seriously compressing the data to get 20 minutes. By contrast, miniDV stores about 13.5 gigs of data on a 60 minute tape. That out to tell you something.
Still trying to sort out this resolution issue. Based on reading various threads, it would appear that the MiniDV format is limited to a maximum resolution of 720 X 480 or 345,600 pixels. Many of the manufactures claim their cameras have CCD resolutions in the 600K to 900K range. Still other threads indicate a loss of quality when trying to go from MiniDV to DVD using their computer hardware /software.
Now I understand that those camcorders that record directly on DVD only have about 20 minutes of record time, but the question is do they provide a higher quality recording, and do any of them record so as to produce a 480P playback on a convention progressive scan DVD player?
