MiniDV transfer to DVD

Dec 28, 2005 11:26AM PST

Can you recommend the best process & software transferring my MiniDV home videos to DVD. I would like to maintain the highest possible video quality & would like to minimize the amount of time it will take. I currently have 20 miniDV tapes to convert & I create another every couple of months. I've tried Sonic MyDVD, direct-to-DVD, but have had some problems & I don't like the lack of control. Once you start it, if something goes wrong with the automatic conversion process, you've wasted a couple of hours. Other than creating bookmarks, I'm not interested in much editing. But I would like a little more control over the process than Sonic MyDVD allows (possibly transfer to hard-drive 1st, then to DVD?). I have a Sony DCR-HC85 MiniDV camcorder, Dell Dimension 8300 computer, 2.66GHz processor, 512MB DDRSD RAM, 4x DVD+RW/+RW/CD-RW drive, Windows XP, firewire card, etc. If you can provide some guideance, it will be greatly appreciated!!
