That model is well known for this failure. You are facing a very tough model. This may sound mean but do your research about the dv6000 disaster first so you know I'm not being overly pessimistic.
Done? Ok, stick with either the HP supplied card and hope it works or use the Express or USB cards.
The wireless feature of my wifes laptop stopped working some time ago. I did the quick fix with a usb adapter, but because of the physical aspect of our home environment, this got broken in no time. I next thought of a pcmcia card only to discover that we possess one of the unique(?) expresscard 54 slots. So returning to the root of the problem, my mini pci-e wireless card was not even showing up in device manager. I was able to find a brand new card on the internet, but when I installed it, I had the same problem of the hardware not even showing up in device manager.
All of the other on board motherboard components work fine, just this one slot. It is a HP pavilion dv6000 running windows xp.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
