General discussion

mini dv vs dvd

Apr 23, 2006 5:29PM PDT

Hi,
I want to buy a camcorder, but I don't have a clue about them! Which one should I go with, a mini dv or a dvd camcorder?

Is it possible to edit a video taken with a dvd camcorder? Can I add music to it?

And if I go with a mini dv, how do i transfer it to my PC and is it possible to write it on a dvd afterwards?

What are the pros and cons of each camcorder?

I can't answer your DVD question, butyou can copy minidv movies to PC and mke a DVD from them. All you need is a firewire cable for less than $10 and some software. If your cmaera doesn't have the DVD software, WinDV is supposed to be good, and it's free.
