What was the original source of the video on the tape you are playing in that deck?
In iMovie, when you launch it, a drop down appears... what happens if you select DV Widescreen when you start the new project? Letterbox is 16:9 standard definition video. DV Widescreen is standard definition 16:9 video...
Which MacBook and which G4 desktop? If the MacBook is a CoreDuo machine, it will likely be faster than the G4... ut to be totally sure we need more specs on both machines.
That GV-D300 looks like it is from 1998 (copyright notice on the manual)... not that it should make a difference, but that is a rather old deck to be using these days... why not use a camera instead? I noticed the manual makes no reference to connecting to a computer!
Hi there,
Beginner Mac User here, learning how to import and edit video into iMovie HD.
Everything works great (using a Sony GV-D300), until the importing is finished. A new box pops up called "letterboxing", and this takes an unreal amount of time to format my clips into letterbox format. Like 30 minutes for a 7 minute clip! With 26 hours of footage I just cant wait this long.
2 questions.
I have a macbook and a G4 desktop. I am currently using the macbook; would it be quicker on the G4 desktop?
Can I eliminate this letterboxing component altogether?
Cheers,
T.
