Mini dv tape to PC converter?

Mar 13, 2006 7:43AM PST

I have been told of a device that plugs into a PC and takes mini dv tapes. It is supposed to convert the mini dv tape into a digital file. I heard about this from a computer technician friend who said he had used one.

Has anyone seen one of these and know what it is called, where I could buy one, etc.?

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

Why you don't see them.

I've seen a miniDV deck for a PC case but the cost was above 2000. The rest of us will connect the firewire cable to the camcorder and transfer it.

The mini DV tape contains a digital file. It does not need

to be converted. It does need to be 'captured' if you want to store the video on a computer.
