Bob is right. There are no dv/vhs adaptors. However, most dv cameras have AV output which connect to TV's and vhs tape decks through RCA connectors. If you want VHS tapes of the material, you can make them directly.
yes there is a devise. i had one and now it is lost. I cant find one any where now
I recently lost my battery charger and dc adapter for my camera and have been searching for a device that would let me turn on camera so I can copy tapes onto DVD via VCR. I went to the JVC parts store and saw the battery charger for $80 and the dc adapter for $22. Since the camera was damaged and I have no intention of getting it fixed, I would rather not spend over $100 dollars in order to power it. Is there any way of finding a power supply (DC input 7.2 volts)that would cost less than $100 that would work.
This reply is late but might be useful to others checking this subject. Despite strong assertions to the contrary by some posters, there IS such a device, or at least there used to be. I know because I had one. It came with my Sharp mini DV video camera. It was a VHS-sized cassette with a slot in the top into which you placed your Mini DV cassette. You could then play this in a normal VHS cassette. We used it all the time to play Mini DVs on the in-laws' VHS machine without the hassle of taking the camera along to use as a player. The question is whether these are still about now. I got mine a long time ago (2000) while I was living in Japan, so I'm guessing they're going to be hard to find now, but you might have some luck on ebay.
The camcorder was a Sharp VL-PD1, which was MINI DV. It was bought in Tokyo in 2000, and came boxed with the said adapter for playing the mini DVs. It may be that such things didn't exist in the UK but in Japan they had the technology back then.
