Mini casset recorder to CD-Rom...

I have a small mini casset recorder that some reporters use, and I want to know the easiest way to copy it to a CD-Rom, I have the cord to connect it in the back of my computer...Do I plug it in the input of my sound card...I know its something about downloading a recorder, and changing the media from anolog to digital, I need a pro quick...I have a Dell Demision 8300 with Win.XP Pro SP3...120G hard drive, 512 Mg Ram...System...Thank You...
