key word is media

most of the intel is millitary run

Depends on what type of intelligence
May 9, 2006 6:53AM PDT

as divided/coordinated among CIA, NSA, FBI, and the military.

My point was...
May 9, 2006 8:35AM PDT

that the CIA has been run by military men before, yet the media act as though it was some kind of bizarre anomaly.

Yeah, I understood your point . Nothing

wrong with a former General running the CIA IMO. Believe Evie is checking on the list of those ex-military people who have been 'Head' or 'Asst Head'. I was replying to Mark's, "most of the intel is millitary run".

(NT) (NT) I see.

There's a whole long list more
May 9, 2006 4:32AM PDT

I'll try to see if I can find one. It's quite extensive ... almost as extensive as the media's malpractice in not mentioning it!

Well, there's...
May 9, 2006 12:35PM PDT

Well, there's Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter, General Walter Smith, and Vice Admiral William Raborn.

Your three, Turner, and Vice Admiral Bobby Ray Inman...
May 9, 2006 6:49PM PDT

...make five - and that's the entire list.

Also...

Rear Adm. Sidney Souers, USNR.

Inman was a Deputy Director.

None of this is told to the American people by the media.

Thanks guys!

There are many more if you count former Pentagon officials and all Deputy directors. As Ed said, to hear the media tell it, Bush had done some outlandish unheard of thing here!

I thought everyone there is military..
May 9, 2006 4:41AM PDT

or atleast an ''ex'' .. or maybe just retired and became a civilian??

- Collapse -
I would think they hire
May 9, 2006 6:58AM PDT

College graduaes fresh out of school, people with much less education, ex or retired military and civilians from other Intelligence agencies.

The "military" angle is a smokescreen
May 9, 2006 11:21AM PDT

The media and Dems dislike that the man supports Bush's wiretapping. Otherwise, there is no justified problem with the man's qualifications.

I heard that in all of the coverage

.... I follow.

IMO, the objections to his being active duty is silly, and has no basis for complaint.

The gentleman is known to be an independent thinker, and to speak his mind.

He should be confirmed!!!

Not to mention
May 9, 2006 10:42PM PDT

that the CIA's forebear was the OSS, a military-led intelligence department that collected intelligence during WW2.
