One option is to buy a L bracket. The camera will mount on the tripod screw and the mic on the cold shoe. It has the advantage that the mic is separated from the camera so there will be no handling noise transmitted to the mic. There are a number of L type brackets on Amazon.
I purchased a RodePro Mike for my camcorder.
Unfortunately, the hotshot is set at the bottom of a curved U. If it wasn't for the curve on each side of the Panasonic hotshot the Rode mike would fit. I'm sure some kind of hotshot adapter would work by extending the hotshot an inch of 2 higher. However a hotshot extended probably wouldn't work because the same problem would be present (that is, it would't fit because of the U shaped curve. There are mini adapters for some cameras, such as Sony. Would a mini hotshoe adapter make contact with the normal hotshoe adapter on the camcorder? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
