I'll write yes.
But there are limits. For instance any program that doesn't work on XP and you transfer from another OS will not fix it and make it work.
I've used these and it eases the work immensely for some.
For me, I just reinstall my apps and my data from my backups.

I will soon be getting a new computer and will want to transfer a fair number of programs and files from the older computer to the newer one. There are several migration utilities on the market (e.g. Alohabob relocator) but there are many conflicting reviews about these products. Many popular sites that review software give these products decent scores (e.g. 7 or 8 out of 10) but then the user reviews trash these programs and recommend not touching them with a ten foot pole. Do these things work or not? Is there any way to try before you buy? Thanks.
