Resolved Question

migration software

Aug 27, 2014 11:48AM PDT

I bought a Samsung 840 EV0 ssd and tried to migrate my c drive onto the ssd and I used Samsung migration software. It does not work. When I run the migration software it shows my C drive and then it tells me to connect my ssd. I connect it with aUSB3 to sata adapter. It is a 22 pin HDD sata to USB3. I connect it and I still get the message to connect it. One thing I noticed about the ssd is that the pins on the ssd are wavy. When I look at a picture on the internet of the same ssd the pins are in a straight line. Does this make a difference? I bought the ssd from Amazon. The first one did not work with the usb to sata adapter. The pins on the first ssd were wavy also. I sent the first one back and got a new one which I thought would not have wavy pins. The new one also has wavy pins and it too does not connect.

How can I get this to work?

Creates Clones mandatory

You do not need to Partition or Format a drive before you Clone it as the process will do that for you. The process will wipe any partition and formatting on the drive. Which is what you are seeing.
The Used space on the C: drive must be less then the 250GB free space of the SSD. Move all of your personal files to a different location before attempting to clone the drive again.

Everything worked fine. I transfered C to the new C(Samsung 840) without a problem. I ordered thje smsung 840 and thje kit which included a usb to sata adapter. Evidently the usb to sata adapter i used first was defective. All done with this problem. Thank all for your posts

I wonder if you have to let it clone the entire drive?
