migrating entire iphoto library ( including albums)

My goal is to duplicate iphoto into a new macbook pro from an older MacBook. I've been able to import all the photos by simply dropping them in the new computer's iphone window, but of course, there's none of my albums on the left side. How can I migrate my iphoto library with all the albums?

When you first booted up the new Macbook

did you notice the part where it asked you if you had any data that you wanted to transfer from another source?
Options included, but not limited to, a Time Machine Backup or another Mac.
Choosing another Mac would have moved all of your data, or data of your choice, from one machine to the other, leaving you with an exact copy of iPhoto.

Take a look a Migration Assistant, which you will find in your Applications > Utilities folder.

"New computer's iPhone window"? Would that be the iPhoto window?

Thanks for the info....In the future I'll use your method, but now that I've already completed most of the transfer, what can I do other than the initial migration procedure?

try using the Migration Assistant now

you should be able to selectively choose what apps/database to move.
Remember that you will need to have ALL your pictures (not just the iPhoto library) in the same location, on the new machine, as they were on the old one.

let us know how you get on

Worst case scenario, assuming that you have not put too much new stuff onto the new machine, would be to Format and Install from the Restore disks that came with the machine and then do as mentioned in my first post.
See how you get on the other way before going down that road
