Migrating Applications into Active Directory

I am a BA working on a new Project that will require us to migrate on premise applications from one Company's AD environment into another company's AD environment. (This is as a result of an acquisition of an IT company by another IT company.)
Can anyone please refer me to any documents/articles that describes on-premise application migration processes?
I want to have a head start on readings before the Project kicks out in January.

I already have documentations for cloud application migration.

Would greatly appreciate your help/recommendations.

That is specific to the apps and how the prior IT set it up.

All good companies have a DISASTER PLAN that includes how to restore to a new server from backups. That could be used as a migration plan if the former IT didn't document their work.

If they are missing he DISASTER PLAN, you need to work that as well.

Thanks for your response R.Proffitt

What is complicated about this Project is that my Company (A) bought over just a section of the other company (B).
We are only migrating apps from company B that are used by the Users of the sector we bought over.

The Forest and domain functional level for both company ADs is Windows 2008.

That only confuses me.

I've yet to find any relationship of the forest and domain to app migration.

So again, there is NO DOCUMENTED WAY to move apps since each app can be different.
There are also few apps that migrate "INTO" Active Directory.

I think you need to talk to the IT staff and have them clear up what they are trying to do. As to migrating apps to the new server, that's either something we do app by app or by using the disaster plan.

There is no magic here. Only work.
