It is becoming too much to protect your investment; the computer, from all the potential attacks of the day (minute, second, etc....). I have lost two hard drives to viruses or sypware and "I" had all the protection that "I" felt would prevent any of this B.S.. Major anit-virus software, anti-spyware software, up-dated them all twice a week (plus had the auto-updates on) had the "kids" trained to run the sypware programs "before" they signed off after EACH session on the computer, firewall and all that CHIT!
But still the system gets infected, the bugs might get quarantined, but they do get in. I have summitted several suggestions that my internet server establish a quarantine of email approach where they attempt to ensure that the "return address" is valid before the junk gets in, etc..... to not avail.
At the end of the day, its my property that is getting damaged, by some unknown criminal (or criminals) that are causing billions of dollars in damage that no one can seem to resolve - and now a billion dollar industry has become created to "protect" us - maybe its time for all the "family" systems to basically issue notification that resolution is needed before "XX" date or we will just simply "sign-off" for 3 month, 6 month, 1 year etc.... meaning no internet connection, email, downloads etc..... and than we will see how "quick" a "SOLUTIION" to "PREVENT" the problem will occur and not just "protect" us from the problem. You will see governments actually establish laws that reflect the crime - if Martha can get 6 month in jail for $50k - internet criminals should get 10 to 15 thousand years for their crimes.
How quick would the governments react if all of a sudden 15, 20, 45, 200 men in little black suits started camping on everyones property with spyglasses, cameras, etc.... recording everything you and your family does (24/7) (or ladies in little black suites) - Laws would be changed and changed very quickly or there would be a political revolt - but because it is out of sight and in our little computer boxes there is really no hurry to address the crap everyone is having to deal with on a daily basis - and any solution is at AN ADDITIONAL COST!!!!!
SO! Maybe it is just time to SIGN OFF and send one big message to the whole industry and let these cyber criminals attack each other instead - since the rest of us decided not to play anymore!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a thought.....hmmmmmmmmmmmm
