Keep in mind there are two main types of sound files used on the WEB, mid or midi and wav. Just because you can hear one does not mean you will hear the other. Since WEB sites may use any sound file type including compressed type, this may be why some people can hear sound at some and not others. Click this link to ascertain whether there is a sound problem with "MID." If you do not hear anything, it could means there are sound problems concerning MIDI playback, or the volume control (yellow horn sitting in the Tasktray usually) may be set to low. Or, Mixer Play Control (click to see an example screenshot).

I am wondering why my WinMe/newly upgraded IE6 SP1 is not playing embedded midis on some (not all) webpages -- including my own PWP with ATT. ATT assures me that my .mid is playing, and I can hear it online with my Win98/IE6, so obviously there must be problem with the WinMe machine. WMP v. 7.01 plays music files on the WinMe, offline, but there is no audio on SOME of the webpages with embedded sounds. Others, are sounding just fine. Yes, I checked the IE settings, and "Play sounds..." is checked. Any clue what could be wrong?
