Microtek Scanner issue

I have a Microtek Scanmaker 4800 running under Windows XP. It has been running fine ever since I installed it last Spring, but this morning when I booted the PC the scan wizard window didn't pop-up. I cannot open the window. I uninstalled and re-installed but no luck. Microtek's site is down right now. I am going to do a system restore to yesterday and see if that helps. Any other ideas?

Bob, I don't think ita the scanner; it powers up as always. The software is what's not working. If I click on the software the icon shows up in the taskbar but then disappears. I have done three system restpres, uninstalled and re-installed the software and gone in to Device Manager and un-installled and re-installed the scanner there. Scanner is 6 months old; at least when Microtek is back up I have support.

Did another re-install and it working, but now I can't get it to take an update that I had installed previously. Will deal with it further when Microtek reports back to work.

Is there some registry cleaner or other tools that you use a lot?

No, I ran the Anti-Parasite Suite the other night, but I've run it many times before. At least it seems to be functioning now. I'll wait until Microtek is back up and email them.

Microtek site still down, but throught Yahoo search I found a link to tech support which worked. Downloaded instructions for correct install of new driver and all works as its supposed to.

Microtek 9800 XL scan window disappeared in Windows XP

When I start up Microtek scan pro from my desktop the scan window does not appear. This problem only occurs from my desktop, not from any application, where all is working normal. The German Service Dept. is unable to duplicate the problem. Their suggestion of uninstalling all traces of the scanner and installing it again has made no difference at all.
Has anyone else, other than Alan Copeland, had the same problem?
