I am not a computer guy.
Well I will explain my incident that happened about a year ago. My computer crashed installing Windows 10. I called Microsoft help line and was routed to some out of country source (May have been Malesia, I just can’t remember). It was defiantly a Microsoft Co.
They wanted to remote access my computer and I was willing. This lady took all day, 7 or 8
Hours staring at my computer screen watching her work. I could not leave because every time she rebooted I would have to enter my password. Her shift was ending and said that she needed to install a program that would resolve the issue. $44.99(I got stupid) and gave her my CC#. The program was Trend Micro. It still did not help! Her shift was ending and she said she would call me in the morning and get it done.
I called back right after we hung up and asked for a supervisor. She remote assessed my computer and fixed it in approximately 20 minutes. After hanging up I realized most of my hard drive had been used up. I not sure what she did, maybe a mirror image. There were two use this PC in my file employer. The one I always used and another one with a funky name. I opened them booth up and they had the same folders, when I deleted one folder it deleted in the other.
Here’s the kicker my bank called me a couple of days later and said my credit card was being used in the Far East. The bank was great and I was not responsible for any of the charges.
Microsoft sent me a survey and I told them exactly what happened but the never responded.
