Microsoft XBOX 360 International Warratnty

by wnont / October 22, 2007 11:12 PM PDT

Hello All!

First post here Happy I wanted to know more about Microsoft's XBOX 360 international warranty. I'm currently in Thailand and there is no Microsoft support center here. The nearest support center is located in Singapore... If my 360 console got Red Ring of Death, I would need to send it there for repairing.

My question is: will Microsoft also cover the shipping costs from sending my 360 console to Singapore for repairing? I just read XBOX360.com warranty page (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemsetup/xbox360/resources/warrantyupdate.htm) which only says that it would cover the shipping costs. But it says nothing at all about international shipping costs..

Thanks so much to everyone in advance.

You are on the hook for shipping. Be sure to insure it since many find high value products to go missing in transit.

You should contact Microsoft

You should contact Microsoft to get a definitive answer to this question. I would agree with Bob in that it's unlikely they'll spring for the international shipping costs, but you never know. You were also looking at the US warranty agreement, which may not be the same as the warranty agreement for Thailand. Even if you bought the system in the US, or from a US retailer (not just a US retailer operating in Thailand), I would not discount the idea of Microsoft trying to weasel out of living up to the terms of that agreement. It would be very consistent with past behavior in similar situations for the company.
