Question

Microsoft WORD- MASTER DOCUMENT question

Jul 5, 2015 11:55AM PDT

My publisher sent me my old book, in a series of attachments (chapters)- he created my book using the MASTER DOCUMENT procedure in WORD. I have the separate files and the MASTER DOC but how do I get the Master Doc to recognize them and open them again to recreate the original book? (I now cannot open them in the MASTER- I cannot expand them, they are "missing", it says).

need to setup the same pathway or file tree

check to see where the master document expects to find them, then create that folder or pathway and put them in it.

Microsoft WORD-Master Document Question, ongoing

Thanks for the quick reply. I am sorry but I cannot see how to do your recommendation, but I am looking into it.
I have all of the hyperlinks in the Master Doc but when I try to expand them, they are "missing". I do not know or see how the reconnect the pathway or linkage, if that is what is missing.
Thanks for your response.

OK I found that the drive location specified in the file name hyperlink was the problem.
Thanks, you were correct, I was able to find the path problem.
