Where can I download Microsoft Word for FRee? My computer was reformatted and I didn't get microsoft Word when I got it back. I don't want to jump through hoops to get it either. Thanks in advance.

No free Microsoft Word.

It's only sold. The best thing to do for Windows 98 is go to eBay and find a installation CD (or CD-set) for Office 97, Office 2000 or Office XP. Office 2003 requires Windows XP.

If you made 5 billion dollars out of a product like MS Office you wouldn't give it away for free either, would you?

If you want a free solution, go to and download their OpenOffice suite. It has a rather Word compatible word processor called Write.

Hope this helps.

just doesn't have the bells-whistles like Spellcheck and Thesaurusand other. It can do Word6 and Rich Text File. MS has Wordview free doc viewer for stuff made in Office97, also Excelview and Powepoint Presentation Viewer 2003, all viewer only and free.
