microsoft wireless mouse/kb problems

Jan 27, 2005 5:20PM PST

i have two problems with my mouse and keyboard. the first i probably can't get any help on, as i have tried for months... the "F" (function) keys don't work properly in game play. they are intedid in one game to give "radio commands", and instead they perform functions of other keys. i've contacted the games creator, and microsoft and their combined assistance made me more ******** than i already was. my other problem (the bigger of the two) is my scroll wheel on my mouse. for the past week it has been not only scrolling my pages up and down, but in the process it performs a "back" and "forward" page jump in my browser. i've checked all the settings for the mouse, and scanned for viruses. i have reinstalled the drivers for the keyboard and the mouse. i can't find anything that seems to be wrong, but it still doesn't work properly. any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated

F-Lock

The microsoft wireless keyboards all default to f-lock on. In other words every time you start your game the function keys are locked out. Simply press the f-lock button at the beginning of game play and your keys should then become active.

Back and forward buttons

Check to see if your new wireless mouse has back and forward buttons located on the side. It is possible that you are hitting these buttons without even knowing it.
