Microsoft vs. Comcast

THIS...is totally nuts. For a long time, I couldn't validate XP or download anything from microsoft.com A Microsoft tech lurking in a forum there helped me fix it by posting a DNS address change message that lots of folks were VERY grateful for. I didn't think about this again until I installed Vonage, then went to microsoft.com to download something unrelated...and found that I no longer could validate and download.

A Vonage tech gave me new addresses to try...and that worked. For ONE DAY. Now, I'm back to square one--can't validate, can't download.

WHAT can I do now?!

IE AND Firefox after plugin download

In reply to: Which browser. . .

I have IE7 and Firefox--the latter outfitted with the new addon from Microsoft that was SUPPOSED to let me validate and download. Didn't work. As I've said, both worked twice, immediately after DNS changes. But soon after...gone again! Too strange...

Just use IE for updates. That's what I do.

Using IE

That's what I use. IE7 to be exact. Doesn't work. But the old DNS Preferred: 4.2.2.2 Alternate: 4.2.2.3 did, again, after I rebooted twice. That was suggested by an MS tech, who posts that fix now and then. And so far, it's the only thing that ever works.
