Question

Microsoft Upgrade

Recently I could not open my computer because of a screen stating I had to update Windows, that it might take a few hours. Now I cannot access my normal Google Homescreen or my former customized Windows homescreen
Was this a valid and necessary update? How can I restore everything?

I don't see what this Google Homescreen is. I googled that and need you to tell me more.

If this happens to be the Windows Creator update you have 10 (or 30?) days to go back. http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rollback-uninstall-windows-10-creators-update tells how.
But unless you tell Windows that you're on a metered connection, it will install automatically again.

But it's much better to go along with Microsofts versions, and solve the few issues such a new version might have. The next version (the Fall Creators update) just started distribution and will arrive soon.

I had the Win 10 creators update screen yesterday.

I just let Windows get on with it. Took just under 2 hours, but no problems. I wonder if the OP started then cancelled the update.
